Do you give free estimates?
Butch will meet with you in person to discuss your remodeling project and will give you a verbal estimate of cost as well as options. There is no charge for this initial visit.
Will you do small jobs?
We are happy to do small repairs and smaller jobs that are within our area of expertise. For specialized needs (e.g., plumbing, electrical, roofing, etc.) we will refer you to one of our subcontractors who will be better able to serve your needs.
Will Lil' America work with my plumber / electrician on my job?
Over the years we have developed relationships with subcontractors who embody the same high standards of customer service and professionalism as we do. However, we will work with another company in instances where you have an established relationship. Please feel free to discuss this with us.
Why is Lil' America's proposal more expensive than the other bid I received on the same project?
There are several reasons why bids differ on a given project. First, it's possible the other company found a different, lower cost solution to the challenges of the project.
In reality, it's more likely that the other bid is light on details making it difficult to see what you are getting for your money and impossible to compare with ours.
You can't compare "apples to oranges."
We prepare detailed proposals which reflect all of your project's cost. At the end of the day, the costs of most of our projects come within 2% of the original proposal price. Often the final costs come in under our estimate, in which case you receive a refund.
We would encourage you to work with any company that makes you feel comfortable with their craftsmanship, attention to detail, and customer service orientation. These are the intangible factors that make the difference between a bad or a good experience throughout the remodeling process and afterward.
Does Lil' America Builders work on new construction projects?
We specialize in residential remodeling and make it our only focus. Because we concentrate on this aspect of the construction industry, we bring our full expertise to the unique challenges and opportunities in the remodeling experience.
Do you accept credit cards?
From the outset, we strive to work as cost-effectively as possible. We do not wish to add service charges and transaction fees associated with credit card payments to the total cost of your remodeling project. Please feel free to talk with us about payment options.
What else should I know about Lil' America's approach to remodeling?
Review our contract, including the detailed payment schedule. Our down payment amount is generally 15% of the total contract price and there are progress payments scheduled along the way. Upon receipt of the signed contract and down payment, we will schedule the project. You can expect us to start work within 2 to 3 weeks, unless you wish to start at a different time or we are delayed awaiting delivery of projects or materials.
We all understand that residential remodeling means we're working in your home. Everything we can possibly do to minimize disruption in your home and in your life while we are working will be done.
We won't arrive before 8:00 am and we will leave by 5:00 pm. Our team will cleanup on a daily basis because neatness, safety and cleanup are part of the job — not an extra.

How did Lil' America Builders get its name?
Back in the '80's, Butch wrestled at length with the problem of naming his newly formed company. Nothing seemed quite right. And, time moved on while the company remained nameless.
Finally,
when it came time to print the checks, Butch knew he needed to make an executive decision pronto. Then it hit him!
"How about Lil' America Builders?" he asked.
Where did that come from?
We stood in amazement — not knowing he was reading Rob Swigert's book, Little America, at the time. How about that!
How tall do you have to be to ride the Mad Mouse?
Yes, we are often confused with the fun folks at Little A-merikk-a. We've called to get the answer to this commonly asked question. You must be at least 4 feet tall to ride the Mad Mouse.
We invite you to take a self-guided tour of our portfolio for a sampling of our remodeling projects.
